Hayao Miyazaki
Creator of the largest Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli with Isao Takahata.
Hayao Miyazaki was born in Japan in 1941. He is an anti-militarist, a feminist and a strong supporter of the environment.
He was almost unknown in the West until the international release of Princess Mononoke in 1999.
He went on to win two Oscars, one for Chihiro's Journey in 2002, and one for his life work in 2015.
From 1979 to 2013, he directed 13 animation movies.
